2024 ASPPH Participation Report
The 2024 annual meeting of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) was held from March 21st to 23rd in Arlington County, Virginia, USA. Representatives from National Taiwan University's College of Public Health (CPH), including Dr. Kun-Hsien Tsai, Director of the Global Health Program(GHP), and Associate Professor Ling-Yin Chang from the Institute of Health Behaviors and Community Sciences(HBCS), participated in the event. They engaged with public health professionals from around the world to discuss public health education, practice, and research.
During this year's conference, Professor Tsai and Associate Professor Chang were invited to the Global Engagement and Partnerships Advisory Committee, where they presented the teaching, research, and practical aspects of National Taiwan University's College of Public Health and exchanged ideas with deans from other public health schools.
The opening forum of the conference was themed, "Framing the Future of 21st Century Education: A Blue-Ribbon Panel Perspective," featuring experts who shared insights on transformative education, lifelong learning, and the role of technology in academic public health. The following day, morning and noon forums focused on "Disparity to Equity: Inter-Sectoral Collaborations and Actions" and "How Politics Impact Public Health," respectively, discussing the impact of health inequalities and politics on public health. Additionally, the conference announced the execution summary for public health education in 2023: "Frame the Future: Education for Public Health 2023."
The conference included other sessions where teachers and scholars from different schools shared insights on public health education, practical internships, advocacy, community engagement, collaboration, and international health issues. These discussions greatly benefited the future development direction, goal adjustments, and planning across various aspects of the CPH and GHP.
