• 1 Admission Requirements

    1. International Students (non-Taiwan citizens, non-Overseas Chinese Students, and non-Mainland China Students ) and Taiwanese students
    2. Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
    3. Proof of English language proficiency in the form of one of the following:
    a) Previous degree from an English-speaking country or taught entirely in English
    b) TOEFL, IELTS, or TOEIC for non-native English speakers.
    Minimum scores:
    i. TOEFL (iBT): 80 or above - have official scores sent to institution code 5688 SOPHAS)
    ii. IELTS: 6.0 or above - have official scores sent to National Taiwan University
    ii. TOEIC: 880 or above - have official scores sent to National Taiwan University

  • 2 How to Apply

    To apply for the Master of Science in Global Health program at National Taiwan University, College of Public Health international students must make an online application via the SOPHAS application portal (sophas.org). SOPHAS is the centralized application service of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) which represents CEPH-accredited schools and programs of public health. The SOPHAS website has clear instructions on how to Select, Track and Manage your application process. Please use the following search criteria in SOPHAS when looking for the Global Health program at NTU. Taiwanese students must make an online application via the NTU Office of Academic Affairs' application portal.

  • 3 Official Transcripts

    1. From each U.S./Canadian (English-speaking) college or university (if applicable)
    2. Applicants with non-U.S./Canadian (English-speaking) credentials must provide documentation in the form of ONE of the following:
    - Official transcripts/marksheets
    sent to: National Taiwan University, R122, No.17 Xu-Zhou Road, Taipei 100, Taiwan or email copies to: ntumgh@ntu.edu.tw. Note: If your academic records do not include official evidence of the award of your degree, you must also submit additional documents that verify the degree conferral.
    - World Education Services (WES) evaluation
    sent directly to SOPHAS (for international students)

  • 4 Statement of Purpose and Objectives

    This statement should be a concise, well-written essay about your educational background and reasons for pursuing a graduate degree in public health, specifically the area of study you wish to follow. This essay should be approximately 1,500 words in length. You should give information about:
    Your background as it pertains to your academic and professional goals.
    The motivating influences that stimulated interest in your specific discipline.
    Your future career goals and objectives.
    Indicate how an advanced degree will help to achieve your educational and career objectives.

  • 5 Resume/CV

    International Students: Applicants may upload a resume or CV directly to SOPHAS via their online application. No cover letter is required.
    Taiwanese Students: Applicants should upload resumes or CVs via the NTU Office of Academic Affairs' application portal.

  • 6 Two Letters of Recommendations

    We require two letters of recommendation from either academic (i.e. a professor) or professional (i.e. a supervisor) sources. We do not accept personal references.
    For international students, these letters should be submitted electronically via SOPHAS by your references. Once you input the contact information of your references, SOPHAS will contact them directly with instructions.
    For Taiwanese students, these letters should be submitted electronically via the NTU Office of Academic Affairs' application portal. Once you input the contact information of your references, the Office of Academic Affairs' portal will contact them directly with instructions.

  • 7 Required Documents after Admission

    - Highest degree's graduation certificate
    - If the graduation certificate is not in Chinese or English, a Chinese or English translation is required
    - Highest degree's full transcript of records (including explanation of grading system)
    - If the transcript is not in Chinese or English, a Chinese or English translation is required
    - Authentication of Academic Credentials
    - Diplomas and academic transcripts issued outside Taiwan have to be authenticated by the Taiwan Overseas Mission in the country of the issuing institution. If the diplomas and the transcripts are not in Chinese or English, you will need to get them translated into either Chinese or English and have the translated copies authenticated.
    - Please note that if you are unable to provide authenticated diplomas and transcripts during Registration, your admission to NTU shall be cancelled. Therefore, we suggest that you get the documents authenticated as soon as possible, and do so before coming to Taiwan.

    - Receipt of the application fee payment
    - Declaration and Authorization Form
    - Financial statement
    - A bank statement showing at least NT$200,000 (US$6,000) in savings deposit. Scholarship awardees shall provide proof of scholarship

    - Passport (if applicable)
    - Taiwan Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) (if applicable)
    - Photograph: In color and less than 6 months old, showing a close-up shot of the head and shoulders, and without wearing a hat.
